scans from an old 'THE GARDEN DOCTOR"

I self published the hand-colored, hand-signed newsletter THE GARDEN DOCTOR from 1987 until 1997. It was a labor of love that did much to keep me in the poor house as I never had that many readers despite quite a few glowing reviews in several newspapers and magazines. But I learned a lot about gardening, and my own resilience and capacity for creative frugality, plus it led directly to my having two newspaper columns and writing for several magazines. I must admit I will always be proud of each ad-free, handcrafted issues, with my making the master plates (which I still own) with old fashioned cut-and-paste. My readership was small but fiercely loyal and generous with gift subscriptions to friends and family, and I will always be grateful and thankful for their touching letters and support.

For years, folks have said I should do SOMETHING with THE GARDEN DOCTOR on-line, plus sell my back issues as collectibles. So I will try scanning pages now and then, and posting them on my blogs, plus will soon offer some issues for sale at this blog.

Please let me know if this trial scanned page opens up for easy viewing and scrolling for you when clicked on. It is from the Fall 1994 issue. Thanks and enjoy, John
