Keeping my stove top and (unused) portable dishwasher top clean and perky looking (most of the time) has been a victory in my efforts to be tidier in my kitchen. To that end, I took my kombucha fermentation bowl formerly wrapped with dark towels and clothespins to keep out light and fruit flies, scrubbed it clean and spray painted the exterior with a shade of blue seen elsewhere in my kitchen. My Dad's skillet grease spatter catching screen lid, deeply cleaned with ammonia then blasted with a garden hose, is perfect for admitting fresh air and releasing fermentation gases. This all looks SO much better than the usual habitual squalor.
