Thanks to my south Tampa gardening friend Pat who today gave me both potted and bare root seedlings of papayas that appeared then THRIVED in his wife Lyn's potted 'Don Juan' rose that enjoys especially rich soil. I planted the bare root ones in my south and west beds, and when they are established, three of the four potted ones (two seedlings per pot in case one is male) will go into my east bed. Lately I've been enjoying ripe papayas from my plant out front that made it through the mild winter intact.
